Digital Woodworking

I use digital design and fabrication to create one-of-a-kind wooden art pieces, primarily from natural materials. What started as a creative outlet during the pandemic has evolved into a small, intentional side project under the brand Provan Made.

I now spend my free time crafting 3D art that blend engineering precision with artistic exploration. Each piece captures a place, material, or idea I’m curious about—always low-volume, high-touch, and deeply personal.

It’s still a passion project, but the work has started finding its way into the world. If you’re curious or interested in a custom piece, feel free to reach out.

Organic Gardening

I’ve been gardening organically for over 20 years, cultivating in places spanning the mountain plots in the Adirondacks and Mendocino County, to urban beds in the Bay Area and North Carolina.

Trained in the bio-intensive method, I focus on maximizing yield in small spaces through dense planting, deep soil preparation, and a steady rhythm of succession planting—all started from seed indoors.

I still find the process magical—placing a tiny seed in the soil and watching it become something edible. I love experimenting, especially with heirloom varietals you won’t find in stores. Favorites include seeds from High Mowing Organics, Baker Creek Heirlooms, and Row 7.

At its core, gardening grounds me. In a world increasingly mediated by screens, growing food offers a welcome return to something tangible and real. It’s simultaneously an act of self-sufficiency and a reminder of our interdependence with the natural world.

Dadding

I have two daughters, Riley and Parker, who light up my world. Becoming a dad reshaped how I see myself, my work, and the future.

Anyone working in climate and impact inherently cares about the future. For me, that used to mean my future. Now it’s about building a better world for my kids, who will inherit whatever we choose to build—or fail to.

Musings aside, my kids keep me grounded, pulling me out of headlines and deadlines, and into the present where life actually happens.
